A First .... but it took 17 years ...

It will be the first time in 17 years that as a club we are super excited to share we have a mum and daughter combo on court together.
Sue Bennie who started playing for the club in our Senior A team in 2012. Sue has been a player and mentor in our Senior A team for 14 years and in this time has played approx 176 games. Sue we congratulate you on this achievement and are very proud to have you at our club.
Gemma Harris joined the club in 2011 playing in an U11 team. Between 2011-2013 she stayed with club in age grade teams. 2014 she played a year in her school team.
In 2015-2020 Gemma returned to club playing through age grade and Senior teams. 2021-2023 she was out injured but in 2024 returned to club, playing in the Senior C team. This was Gemma 's 10 years and received her crystal 10 year glass. Feeling that 2025 was her year, she made the Senior A team and is now lucky enough to join her mum Sue, playing together as a defence combo. We love that you have grown in your netball and stuck with us long enough to be in a team with your mum. Gemma we congratulate you, and look forward to seeing you at HNC for many more years to come.

ANZ SILVER FERN'S Skill session
On 4th June, Tuesday afternoon, some of our club players were lucky enough to have a skills training session with Silver Ferns; Karin Burger, Kate Heffernan and Paris Lokotui at the Nga Puna Wai Centre.
Coach Trish Hastie attended the session that Emma from ANZ organised for our girls to attend.
Trish's comments " The Silver Ferns were so lovely, the girls were buzzing and really enjoyed the interaction with them".
Pictured below are: Bonnie Hastie with Karin, Zoe Cleave with Karin and the 3 SF with our players from the FF Hawks and Yr 7 Red team.
Thank you ANZ for giving our girls this opportunity.
